Alexander Fisher is a Partner with the law firm Savo, Schalk, Gillespie, O’Grodnick & Fisher, P.A. He specializes in the areas of Land Use, Local Government Law, Affordable Housing, and Redevelopment. He is admitted to practice in New Jersey and New York, as well as in the District of New Jersey and the United States Supreme Court. He earned his undergraduate degree from Grinnell College and his J.D. from the Rutgers School of Law in 2010, after which he clerked for the Hon. Fred Kumpf, J.S.C. in Vicinage XIII.
Mr. Fisher has represented developers in major applications throughout New Jersey, ranging from multifamily apartment complexes to asphalt plants to sports and events centers. He has also served as counsel to many municipalities and land use boards, including as Township Attorney for the Township of Berkeley Heights, Township Attorney for the Borough of Rocky Hill, Deputy Township Attorney for the Township of Bridgewater, Zoning Board Attorney for the Township of East Brunswick, Zoning Board Attorney for the Township of East Windsor, Planning Board Attorney for the Township of Springfield, and Zoning and Planning Board Attorney for the Borough of South Plainfield. Additionally, he has represented numerous municipalities as Affordable Housing counsel.
Mr. Fisher argued the landmark case of 388 Route 22 Realty Holdings, LLC v. Township of Readington, et al. 221 N.J. 318 (2015) before the New Jersey Supreme Court regarding the allocation of sewer capacity for development. He has also lectured on land use and local government matters throughout the state, and currently serves as Vice Chair of the Land Use Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association.
